Description:

Great American Song Contest" Award Winner for Family Bayou, The BluesBox Bayou Band is no garden variety band. Hailing from Sonora California. These band mates have a passion for music and it shows.
With a very loyal fan base, The BluesBox Bayou Band and they have released several respectable albums over the years. Like most hard working local bands, they play numerous small clubs in Northern California and additionally do the festival circuit. The Blues Box Bayou Band is NOT your mamas accordion band!...The excellent "dance party" reputation of The BluesBox Bayou Band has got around... The band launches a powerful Cajun / zydeco swamp beat style you just can't sit still to! Rising from humble beginnings, this zydeco group caught on quickly, at first entertaining spaghetti feeds to recent performances at the '09 Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, the Isleton Crawdad Festivals, Six Flags Vallejo, Black Oak Casino, Gilroy Garlic Festival and many more. To date the Blues Box Bayou Band have released four CD recordings with their latest release "Rock a'Bayou". Two premier singles from their upcoming CD, "Move Around / Family Bayou" are available through download.
"The Blues Box Bayou Band: P.D. Grimaldi takes this band down a Traditional and Contemporary Zydeco road that just sets folks on fire. This band hails from the central valley of California and has been treating folks to great music for a number of years. This band was chosen to open the festival and perform the fais do do on Friday night (1 of 3 gigs total). I missed them while I was at Balfa Camp this past April , as they were in Lafayette making music and having a grand time in the mother land of Cajun/Creole & Zydeco. Pete has written some material that sends me ... although I am not excitable about new material , the sounds of Blues Box and the lyrics are super audio delights that defines memories ... I gauge this band to be among California's great contributions to the genre." David Mason, Music Director Isleton Crawdad Festival

"Not Your Mama's Accordion Band! There’s a term used in parenting literature to refer to children who may be a bit too rowdy for their own good. They’re sweet, decent, loving kids, but they are what we call “spirited”. Really, it’s a measure of a kid who has lots of youthful, fun , vibrant energy. And spirited is a word I keep thinking of as I listen to the Blues Box Bayou Band, a Cajun-Zydeco group from California’s Central Valley. They appear to get a fair amount of play in Northern California at a variety of events where good food, drink, and music can be found. If you enjoy a mature sound in your music, enjoy traditional Cajun music, and are known to cut a rug once in a while, this stuff is for you. There’s a feel to it that can be described as rhythmic and bouncy, with depth and quality in the arrangement of the music, a complexity to the instrumentation that keeps the ear busy and having fun. Their solid sound works adapting covers, traditional and originals."
